Taxonomy
Alligator thomsoni was named by Mook (1923). Its type specimen is AMNH 1736, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Trojan Quarry, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Olcott Formation of Nebraska.
