Oreosaurus vagans
Taxonomy
Oreosaurus vagans was named by Marsh (1872). Its type specimen is YPM 541, a partial skeleton (frontals (lectotype), 3 lower jaw fragments, partial right maxilla, pterygoid, scutes and bone fragments), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Xestops, Oreosaurus.
It was recombined as Xestops vagans by Marsh (1873), Hay (1902), Hay (1930), Meszoely (1970), Zonneveld et al. (2000).
