Mytilus sachalinensis was named by Simonova (1941) [DISTRIBUTION: Northeastern Pacific; Early Miocene.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mytilus (Mytilus) sachalinensis by Kafanov and Ogasawara (2003).
