Cyclostremiscus was named by Pilsbry and Olsson (1945) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 700]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Cyclostrematidae by Gardner (1948); to Adeorbidae by Ladd (1966); to Vitrinellidae by Weisbord (1962), Perrilliat (1972), Ward and Blackwelder (1987), Todd (2001); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
