Taxonomy
Diala was named by Adams (1861) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 559]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Dialidae.

It was assigned to Cerithiadae by Ladd (1972); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dialidae by Kay (1979), Wilson (1993), Lozouet (1998) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
