Strombus (Eustrombus) was named by Wenz (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: T Plio R Sepkoski's reference number: 1074]. It is extant. Its type is Strombus gigas.

It was reranked as Eustrombus by Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Strombus by Wenz (1940) and Abbass (1967); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
