Graciliala was named by Sohl (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1074]. Its type is Anchura (Drepanochilus) calcaris.

It was assigned to Aporrhainae by Sohl (1964), Dockery (1993); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); to Arrhoginae by Kollmann (2009); and to Aporrhaidae by Sohl (1960), Garvie (2013).
