Haurakia was named by Iredale (1915) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 728]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Pusillina (Haurakia) by Beu et al. (1990).

It was assigned to Haurakiidae by Slavoshevskaya (1975); to Pusillina by Beu et al. (1990); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rissoinae by Bouchet et al. (2005).
