Acentrophorus varians

Taxonomy
Palaeoniscus varians was named by Kirkby (1862). Its type specimen is Hancock Museum, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Fulwell Hill, old quarry, fish bed, Sunderland, which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate limestone in the Raisby Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Acentrophorus varians by Traquair (1877), Woodward (1895), Hay (1902), Gill (1923) and Gardiner (1960).
