Taxonomy
Coccolepis macropterus was named by Traquair (1911). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Sainte-Barbe coal mine, Bernissart, which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine - small claystone/bituminous coal in the Sainte-Barbe Clays Formation of Belgium.
