Monograptus acinaces was named by Törnquist (1899) [Tornquist in Elles and Wood 1901-18].
It was recombined as Lagarograptus acinaces by Hutt (1975) and Melchin (1987); it was recombined as Huttagraptus acinaces by Bjerreskov and Koren' (1997).
