Taxonomy
Microbrachium was named by Traquair (1888). It is the type genus of Microbrachiidae.

It was corrected as Microbrachius by Denison (1978), van der Laan (2019).

It was assigned to Asterolepididae by Woodward (1891); to Antiarcha by Denison (1978); and to Microbrachiidae by van der Laan (2019).
