Natica wintlei hamiltonensis was named by Tenison Woods (1879) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Southern Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Natica hamiltonensis by Tate (1893); it was recombined as Tanea hamiltonensis by Darragh (1970) and Darragh (2017).
