Taxonomy
Pleurotoma jamaicense was named by Guppy (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Pliocene; Jamaica.]. Its type specimen is BMNH 64066, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Pleurotoma (Drillia) jamaicense by Dall (1903); it was recombined as Drillia jamaicense by Pilsbry (1922); it was recombined as Crassispira jamaicense by Woodring (1928); it was recombined as Crassispira (Crassispirella) jamaicensis by Woodring (1970).
