Taxonomy
Alligator olseni was named by White (1942). Its type specimen is M.C.Z. No. 1887, a skull (well preserved skull), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Thomas Farm, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Alachua Formation of Florida.
