Glycimeris menardi was named by Deshayes (1829) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Recent; Mediterranean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Panopea menardi by Steininger (1963); it was recombined as Panopea (Panopea) menardi by Freneix et al. (1988), Moths et al. (2010).
