Taxonomy
Nisusia howelli was named by Shaw (1957). Its type specimen is MCZ 9353, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is SA-C-8, which is in a St Davids carbonate limestone/shale in the Parker Slate Formation of Vermont.

A. B. Shaw 1957The shell is transverse, faintly sulcate, with a well developed apsacline interarea. The xenidium is present as in all Nisusiae. The distinctive feature of the shell is its regular costellate ribbing, which is unlike the irregular, rough, coarser ribbing of the other species in the Parker.
