Rasmussen 2019 | Diagnosis of family is based on the revised Treatise (Cocks and Rong, 2000): Wider than long with triangular to quadrate outline and profile ranging from concavo-convex to resupinate. Ornamentation varies from multicostellate to unequally parvicostellate. Pseudopunctate shell. Dorsal interior with short brachiophores commonly present with a simple cardinal process fused anterior of hinge line to valve floor, or occasionally completely absent. The dorsal medium septum is weak and variably developed with no side septa. Bema not developed. |
