Ankyloceras was named by Zhuravleva (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi D Eife Sepkoski's reference number: 299]. It is not extant. Its type is Cyrtoceras nesnayamiense.
It was assigned to Oncoceratida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Karoceratidae by Kröger (2008).
