Tellina scitula was named by Meek and Hayden (1856). Its type specimen is USNM 439 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Tellinimera scitula by Speden (1970).

  • Tellina formosa was named by Meek and Hayden (1861) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian; Western Interior.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

    It was recombined as Linearia formosa by Russell and Landes (1937); it was synonymized subjectively with Tellinimera scitula by Speden (1970).
