Taxonomy
Aristoceras was named by Ruzhencev (1950) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-u P Asse]. It is not extant. Its type is Aristoceras chkalovi.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Aristoceratinae by Leonova (2002); to Thalassoceratinae by Furnish et al. (2009); and to Thalassoceratidae by Korn (2006) and Zhou (2017).
