Neoglaphyrites was named by Ruzhencev (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-u P Asse Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Bisatoceratidae by Korn (2006) and Furnish et al. (2009).
