Taxonomy
Alanites was named by Shevyrev (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Alanites visendus.

It was assigned to Khvalynitidae by Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
