Anolcites was named by Mojsisovics (1893) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Trachyceras (Anolcites) by Smith (1914).

It was assigned to Trachyceras by Smith (1914); to Trachyceratidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); to Trachyceratinae by Tozer (1994); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Anolcitinae by Mietto and Manfrin (2008).
