Taxonomy
Badiotites was named by Mojsisovics (1879) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Ammonites eryx. It is the type genus of Badiotitidae.

It was assigned to Lecanitidae by Spath (1951); to Badiotitidae by Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
