Taxonomy
Neopopanoceras was named by Spath (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Popanoceras (Parapopanoceras) haugi.

It was assigned to Megaphyllitidae by Spath (1951); to Procarnitidae by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
