Paraceratitoides was named by Parnes (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-l Tr Ladi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Paraceratites (Paraceratitoides) brotzeni.

It was reranked as Paraceratites (Paraceratitoides) by Parnes (1975).

It was assigned to Paraceratites by Parnes (1975); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hungaritidae by Tozer (1981) and Pérez Valera (2005).
