Anahamulina was named by Hyatt (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut-u K Barr-u]. Its type is Hamulina subcylindrica.

It was assigned to Macroscaphitidae by Hyatt (1900); to Ptychoceratidae by Murphy (1975); to Ammonoidea by Imlay (1960) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Hamulinidae by Klein et al. (2007) and El Qot (2018).
