Taxonomy
Glochiceras was named by Hyatt (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-u J Kimm-l]. Its type is Ammonites nimbatus. It is the type genus of Glochiceratinae, Glochiceratinae.

It was assigned to Haploceratidae by Cantu-Chapa (1962); to Glochiceratinae by Schlegelmilch (1994); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Oppeliidae by Sato and Yamada (2014).
