Taxonomy
Hemihoplites was named by Spath (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut-u K Barr-u].

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Klinger and Kennedy (1992) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Hemihoplitidae by Cantu-Chapa (1962), Murphy (1975) and Klein et al. (2007).
