Taxonomy
Microderoceras was named by Hyatt (1871) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-l J Sine-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Ammonites birchi.

It was assigned to Xipheroceratinae by Bremer (1965); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); to Eoderoceratinae by Howarth (2013); and to Eoderoceratidae by Corna and Dommergues (1995), Blau (1998), Meister and Friebe (2003) and Edmunds et al. (2016).
