Taxonomy
Watinoceras was named by Warren (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo-l]. Its type is Watinoceras reesidei.
It was assigned to Mammitinae by Cooper (1978); to Acanthoceratidae by Zaborski (1987) and Stelck et al. (2002); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Acanthoceratinae by Wright et al. (1996), Gale et al. (2005) and Ifrim and Stinnesbeck (2007).
