Taxonomy
Rhynchonella somalica was named by Dacque (1905). Its type locality is Mt. Hakim, upper level, which is in an Oxfordian shallow subtidal limestone in Ethiopia.

It was recombined as Somalirhynchia somalica by Weir (1925).
