Taxonomy
Similodonta was named by Soot-Ryen (1964). Its type is Tellinomya similis. It is the type genus of Similodontidae.
It was assigned to Nuculoida by Sepkoski (2002); to Praenuculidae by Cox et al. (1969), Toni (1975), Vokes (1980), Fang (2006); and to Similodontidae by Carter et al. (2011).
