Venus asperrima was named by Sowerby (1835). It is extant.
It was recombined as Protothaca (Leukoma) asperrima by Keen (1971); it was recombined as Nioche (Nioche) asperrima by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Protothaca asperrima by DeVries and Wells (1990); it was recombined as Leukoma asperrima by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
