Pecten (Pecten) vogdesi was named by Arnold (1906) [DISTRIBUTION: California-Panama (Recent); western North America (Pliocene-Pleistocene).a]. It is extant. Its type locality is San Pedro [Timms Point Silt], which is in an Irvingtonian terrestrial siltstone in the Timms Point Silt Formation of California.
It was recombined as Pecten (Janira) vogdesi by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Pecten (Oppenheimopecten) vogdesi by Keen (1971), Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Oppenheimopecten vogdesi by Moore (1984); it was recombined as Euvola vogdesi by Coan et al. (2000), Hendy (2021).
