Myophoria was named by Bronn (1834) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Tr Nori-u Sepkoski's reference number: 94]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Trigoniidae by Isberg (1934); to Myophoriidae by Vokes (1980); and to Trigonioida by Sepkoski (2002).
