Gryphochiton asamiae
Taxonomy
Gryphochiton asamiae was named by Hoare and Karasawa (2008). Its type specimen is MFM250001, a partial shell (tail plate), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ichihashi Quarry, Kinshozan, Akasaka, which is in a Capitanian shallow subtidal packstone in the Akasaka Formation of Japan.
