Taxonomy
Aglaspis was named by Hall (1862) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran Cm Trep-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1031]. It is the type genus of Aglaspididae.

It was assigned to Aglaspididae by Størmer (1955); and to Merostomata by Sepkoski (2002).
