Taxonomy
Orbiculoidea elegans was named by Liao (1980). Its type specimen is NIGP 43389 and is a mold. Its type locality is Heilajia Section Bed 10 (HG-3), Liuzhi County, which is in a Griesbachian marine siliciclastic in the Feixianguan Formation of China.
