Forolinia was named by Nestor (1964) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u]. Its type is Rosenella pachyphylla.
It was assigned to Labechiidae by Nestor (1964); to Stromatoporoidea by Nestor and Nestor (1977); to Stromatoporoidea by Sepkoski (2002); to Rosenellidae by Steam et al. (1999) and Nestor et al. (2010); and to Stromatoporoidea by Novack-Gottshall (2025).
