Taxonomy
Properrinites vicinus was named by Miller and Furnish (1940) [Properrinites cumminsi vicinus]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Four miles south of Electra, which is in an Artinskian marine siliciclastic in the Valera Shale Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Metaperrinites.

It was recombined as Metaperrinites vicinus by Leonova (2002).
