Paralejurus was named by Hawle and Corda (1847) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi D Eife-u Sepkoski's reference number: 421,1106]. Its type is Bronteus campanifer.

It was assigned to Corynexochida by Sepkoski (2002); to Styginidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Scutelluinae by Schraut and Feist (2004).
