Boreostemma pliocena
Taxonomy
Boreostemma pliocena was named by Carlini et al. (2008). Its type specimen is no number listed, an osteoderm (30 osteoderms palate fragment with M6-7 alveoli), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Road to Tio Gregorio Locality, which is in a Messinian/Zanclean fluvial-deltaic sandstone in the Codore Formation of Venezuela. It is the type species of Boreostemma.
