Taxonomy
Niobe was named by Angelin (1851) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-u O Cara-l Sepkoski's reference number: 81,795]. It is the type genus of Niobinae.
It was assigned to Asaphidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Niobinae by Neuman and Bruton (1974), Fortey (1975), Hoel (1999) and Zhou and Zhou (2019).
