Taxonomy
Macrochilina ptychitica was named by Kittl (1894). It is the type species of Ramina, Rama.

It was recombined as Rama ptychitica by Böhm (1895); it was recombined as Ramina ptychitica by Wenz (1938) and Tong and Erwin (2001).
