Taxonomy
Peligrotherium was named by Bonaparte et al. (1993). It is not extant. Its type is Peligrotherium tropicalis.

It was assigned to Peligrotheriidae by Gelfo and Pascual (2001) and Gelfo et al. (2007); and to Peligrotheridae by Rougier et al. (2011).
