Taxonomy
Productus papilio was named by Gabb (1877). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Island of Titicaca, which is in a Sakmarian carbonate limestone in the Copacabana Formation of Bolivia.
It was recombined as Megousia papilio by Waterhouse (1968).
