Nagyella was named by Kozur (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Nagyella longispinosa.

It was assigned to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Berounellidae by Kozur (1970) and Sebe et al. (2013).
