Crisia was named by Lamarck (1812) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 587]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Crisiidae.

It was assigned to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Crisiidae by Bassler (1953), Brown (1956), Lee et al. (1997), Schmidt (2003).
